Advanced Materials Engineering (AME) is an interdisciplinary collaboration of materials research, production and process engineering, physics, and computer science. Projects are coordinated in cross-cutting fields of materials engineering research, based on experimental and metrological detection, as well as computer modeling and simulation. Collaborations enhance opportunities for innovative solutions, particularly in digitalization of materials and process engineering, and meeting future challenges. As a result, AME plays an important role in internationally-visible and sustainable research in areas relevant to high-tech industries such as automotive and aerospace, as well as biotech and medical. The network comprises members from the RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau and its associated institutes—the Institute for Composite Materials (IVW) and Institute for the Analysis of Surfaces and Layers (IFOS). More generally, the interdisciplinary research represented by AME strengthens synergies, and the visibility of complete materials-related research at the RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau.
