High Performance Center Simulation- and Software- based Innovation

With its high-tech strategy, the federal government aims to establish Germany as a worldwide driver of innovation. New ideas shall be converted into innovative products within no time and contribute to the development of society. The concept of the High Performance Center is the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft's contribution to this initiative. The concept strengthens existing collaborations between enterprises, universities and research institutes. It integrates research and education, promotion of early career researchers, overarching infrastructure as well as innovation and transfer in SMEs and large enterprises.

The High Performance Center for Simulation and Software-based Innovation strengthens the exchange between economic partners, university partners and the Fraunhofer Institutes in Kaiserslautern, a location that offers a nationwide unique infrastructure in the area of IT research and especially in hardware, software and network based digital technologies. Since 2016, the two Fraunhofer Institutes for Industrial Mathematics (ITWM) and for Experimental Software Engineering (IESE) are joining forces within the center with the University of Kaiserslautern, as well as the University of Applied sciences Kaiserslautern. The center also includes other close cooperation partners, such as the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence, the Institute for Composite Materials and the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems. Partners from economy are, amongst others: BASF SE, Daimler AG, John Deere GmbH & Co. KG, Liebherr, Procter & Gamble, Robert Bosch GmbH, Schmitz Cargobull AG and Volvo Construction Equipment Germany GmbH.
