DFG Research Units
By supporting these working groups, the German Research Foundation (DFG) facilitates close cooperation on joint research tasks over the mid-term (normally for six years) among several outstanding scientists.
The thematic, durational, and financial scope of these projects far exceeds the funding possibilities in the context of individual grants (normal or priority process). The focus of the research units can be flexibly designed and integrated in overlapping research policy initiatives. For example, priority programs can be set for the integration of junior researchers, collaborations with non-university external partners, or in the area of international cooperation.
Current DFG research units:
- FOR 524 "Manufacture, properties analysis, and simulation of welded lightweight constructions of metal/fiber-plastics composites" (since 2006)
- FOR 967 "Functions and mechanisms of ribosomal tunnel exit ligands" (since 2008)
- FOR 1061 "Dynamic storage functions of plant vacuoles" (since 2008)
- FOR 1464 "Advanced spintronic materials and transport phenomena" (since 2010)
