Materials Science in Mainz (MAINZ)

The focus of study at the MAINZ (Materials Science in Mainz) graduate program is the design of innovative, functional polymer materials and materials with entirely new properties. Highly qualified junior researchers from home and abroad pursue their studies at the highest academic and scientific standards and earn a doctorate degree with an interdisciplinary approach in MAINZ.

MAINZ offers two full Ph. D. programs over a three year period in addition to the one year program of the international Max Planck Research School of Polymer Materials Science. Each candidate is assigned mentor who is experienced in research or industry and can provide advice and individual support concerning the candidate's academic progress.

The successful ongoing program is expected to be continued in the second phase of the Excellence Initiative. Currently, Johannes-Gutenberg University Mainz and TU Kaiserslautern are jointly preparing the continuation proposal.
