RESCUE

A Sustainable Construction Industry

Sustainable Resource Conservation in Civil Engineering, Urbanism and Economy (RESCUE) is a priority activity dealing with the multi-disciplinary issues of sustainability in the building industry. In this research activity, the special focus is on the sustainable management of the somewhat limited resources, land, air, and water.

RESCUE develops and coordinates the appropriate research projects, those which deal with the relevant environmental media and examine other issues occurring at any sector of the building industry – at the micro level (materials), the meso level (components and systems), or the macro level (planning on a regional level).

An important characteristic of this initiative is its interdisciplinary collaboration of materials scientists, engineers, architects, urban planners, and economists. This comprehensive approach facilitates the consideration of various views and assessments in the research projects. The result is that cooperation between the TU Kaiserslautern structures and the associated institutes is expanded and oriented on pioneering topics.
