German for a degree program
Naturally, you will need a better knowledge of German for your degree courses than the B-1 level. You need, e.g., the DSH exam with an overall test result of DSH-2 or DSH-3.
The DSH exam is administered at TU Kaiserslautern for new students in March and September. More information about this exam here.
Different certificates are also accepted as evidence of this skill level and you can then begin your degree program immediately. This can eliminate the requirement to take the DSH exam:
- German secondary school diploma (German school in Germany or abroad)
- Graduation certificate from preparatory courses in Germany ("aptitude test")
- DSH diploma with a grade of DSH-2 or DSH-3 from a German university
- "Kleine deutsche Sprachdiplom" (basic) from Goethe-Instituts
- "Große deutsche Sprachdiplom" (advanced) from Goethe-Instituts
- "Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung" (general) from Goethe-Instituts
- The Unicert III in German certificate
- TestDaF certificate with at least TDN-4 in all sections
Info concerning master programs: There are some master programs that require knowledge of a different language. Please refer to the appropriate examination policy for your course of study.
