Studies
Preparatory courses and aptitude testing
Applicants with a foreign educational qualification that is not equivalent to the German abitur may, under some circumstances, be given the opportunity to attend preparatory courses in German, the Studienkolleg. The educational certificate from the issuing country (e.g., Morocco, if that is where you graduated from school) must be a valid qualification for advance studies at the university level.
You can take the aptitude test at the Studienkolleg or first take some courses there to prepare for the aptitude test. What courses you take is determined by the field of study you which to subsequently pursue. Once you have passed the aptitude test, you are eligible for admission to TU Kaiserslautern. The test also certifies that you possess the required German language skills.
TU Kaiserslautern notifies you of the result immediately after the assessment of your credentials. You will then receive an invitation to take the entrance exam from the Studienkolleg in Mainz.
The procedure is as follows:
- Application to TU Kaiserslautern
- Invitation to take the entrance exam and attend preparatory courses (Studienkolleg) in German
- Registration at the Studienkolleg and enrollment at TU Kaiserslautern
- Attend Studienkolleg
- Passing grade on the aptitude test
After successfully completing the aptitude test at the Studienkolleg, you must reapply for admission to the respective course of study at TU Kaiserslautern. The invitation to the Studienkolleg does not constitute acceptance into the degree program you have chosen.
The enrollment time at the Studienkolleg is not counted as a term semester.
