Continued first-class doctorate education ensured

The initiative-for-excellence of the federal and state governments aims at promoting first-class research and enhancing the quality of universities and science in Germany. In this context, the University of Kaiserslautern  (together with the Johannes Gutenberg-University in Mainz) applied to extend the funding for the excellent graduate school "MAterials Science IN MainZ" (MAINZ), which is dedicated to educating young scientists of the area of material sciences.

On 15th July it was announced that the graduate school will receive further funding in the DFG-funding-phase 2012-2017. “This is an immense success for us. In the first funding-phase the graduate school has already educated many excellent doctorates”, Prof. Hillebrands (Vice president for research and technology) announced. The repeated success of the graduate school MAINZ is convincing proof that Rhineland-Palatinate is capable of competing on an international level.
