Trip to Triberg (Black Forest)
Triberg is a small hill station in the famous Black Forest. The town is known for a beautiful waterfall and the world’s largest Cukoo Clock. PSA-KL arranged a day-long trip to this beautiful town on April 11, 2015.
Our (a group of 12 people) trip started early in the morning @ 7:30 with a 3 hours long journey to the town of Triberg with DB (German Railways). The journey was smooth with no train-delays and we reached Triberg railway station around 10:40 AM. The train station is a little bit outside the main city, which is a rarity in Germany. A bus took us to the city center in few minutes though and we dropped at a stop near to the waterfall. The entrance to the waterfall is a couple of minutes walk from the Rathaus. We were greeted with a light rain, which accompanied us for the rest of the day.
The roar of the waterfall can be heard throughout the town. We took an early lunch (thanks to everyone who brought delicious meal in surplus quantity) and started our exploration. The paths were well-maintained and clean. There were three man-made platforms to cross the waterfall at various heights. We crossed the waterfall the highest platform and explored our way downhill to a picturesque small lake (Bergsee). We were a little tired by that time and the rain picked up its intensity; so we decided to take a breather at a small but clean restaurant to refresh ourselves with Coffee and Tea.
We still had time, so we decided to see to the World’s largest Cukoo clock which was in a nearby town of Schonachbach. It was a delight to see the 50x Cukoo clock properly functioning, with a big Cukoo coming out every thirty minutes. The town itself was gorgeous and an ideal place for a picnic with lush green grass and water streams flowing through gently. After spending an hour in that stunning location, we headed back to Triberg.
It was close to 1700 Hrs, when we left this small town. We arrived back to Kaiserslautern around 2030 Hrs after a long but very memorable day.
