Effective pre-departure communication helps the students to regulate application, visa, residence permit, and housing affairs; the ISGS supplies any information and assistance needed to manage the application procedure and arrange accommodation as well as provides support on an individual basis in completing any documents for arrival.

Once You Are here...
The ISGS' activities for international (post)graduates comprise a broad range of highly professionalized services for incoming European and third-country students and scholars. One major task of the ISGS team is to help the students settle into and become part of the university's vibrant community. The welcome-service includes pick-up from the train station and drop-off at the student's apartment as well as support with first shopping and highly individualized support in administrative and organizational issues.

Orientation Course: A prelude to (German) communication, (Academic) culture & daily life as a warm-up, the orientation course is offered twice a year prior to the start of the studies/research training (6-8 weeks). It includes intensive language training, administrative support as well as cultural and social events, thus enhancing orientation on campus, in Kaiserslautern, and in the student community. Once having established a foothold, the students have clear minds for efficient studies and research!

Mentoring Your Studies and Research...
During studies or research, ISGS offers a variety of cultural and social events to integrate the students as international guests into the ISGS family. Further, the ISGS offers extra-curricular activities enhancing soft skills - such as workshops in academic culture, English as a Language of Science, or intercultural communication - which are supplementary and free and may be taken during or at the end of the studies and research; these are highly recommended for personal development.

Jumpstart Your Career...The ISGS offers professional development training on teamwork and leadership, time management, and cross cultural training as well as specific language training with regard to job applications. To achieve outstanding success with regard to your thesis, the variety of our special offers for PhDs during the final period at university is permanently growing.
The ISGS works to establish meetings with reputable contacts from science and industry within our Career-Services and sets up visits to factories, company headquarters, public authorities, and research institutes in order to help the students launch new careers.

Time to Say Goodbye...
Similar to the warm welcome received, the students are guided through the final period of studies or research.
Finally, the ISGS says goodbye personally and gives a fond farewell at the annual university-wide international graduation ceremony. The students can keep in touch through the alumni channels, mailing lists, or social media networking.
