All foreigners who intend to study in the Federal Republic of Germany must have sufficient financial means and be able to finance their study and costs of living. Studies cannot be expected to be financed by paid work.
Winter semester 2004 / 05 study accounts have been introduced in Rhineland-Palatinate. Please find more detailed information here. The University of Kaiserslautern does not charge a tuition fee unless the standard period of study is exceeded by 1.75. For more detailed information please contact the international office.
The only amount due is a social contribution of € 191,23 which has to be paid per semester until the credit has been used up. The amount has to be transferred before matriculation or acceptance confirmation. This amount includes a student ticket (€ 101,23) covering public transport services in and around Kaiserslautern during the current semester.
The social contribution for attending preparatory courses is currently € 90,00. The necessary deposit slip will be sent with the notice of admittance and/or student identification card. The student ticket for using public transport services in and around Kaiserslautern can be applied for at the preparatory course team’s office.
The costs of living, including accommodation, add up to approximately € 435.00 per month. Approx. €103.00 per semester are currently required for study material. The expenses per semester can add up to € 256.00 and more if students choose natural scientific study courses.
