Establishment of the Foundation
In-crease of Its Endowment Capital
The foundation for TU Kaiserslautern was formed on July 19, 2006. It started with endowment capital of € 185,000, which was contributed by a total of nine founding patrons, namely: Dr. Gerhard F. Braun, Wolfstein, Mr. Otto Buhler, Kaiserslautern, The Friends of TU Kaiserslautern e.V., Kaiserslautern, represented by: Mr. Kurt Lechner, chairperson of the board, Kolbenschmidt Pierburg AG, Neckarsulm, represented by: Dr. Gerd Kleinert, chairperson of the board, Landesbank Rheinland-Pfalz, Mainz, represented by: Dr. Friedhelm Plogmann, chairperson of the board, Mr. and Ms. Manfred und Hannelore Lenhart, Rhaunen, Prof. Dr. Madhukar Pandit, Kaiserslautern, Mr. Josef Skipiol, Kaiserslautern, Prof. Dr. Heinrich Zankl, Homburg.
These people have in common that they all feel a close bond with TU Kaiserslautern and that they represent an important part of the university’s network, which links science, the economy and society with one another.
In the meantime, the foundation’s endowment capital has grown to € 2,265,000. An important step in this development was the addition of the Rheinmetal Foundation in the year 2008. In this way, the resources of two foundations that each support science and teaching were bundled and thus could be deployed more effectively. A successful way to render support which, in particular, convinced the board of Rheinmetall.
The projects and activities of TU Kaiserslautern are convincing: the patrons’ meeting now has almost 30 patrons who each year make a selection of the projects worthy of support. We thank all of our donors.
