Following its approval in October 2015 Spin+X has embarked on January 1, 2016 on its journey to explore new frontiers of Advanced Spin Engineering. Sailing under full flags, Spin+X has more than 30 Principal Investigators and more than 40 Ph.D. students and postdocs on board. This crew from physics, chemistry and mechanical and process engineering will jointly perform cutting-edge research in the field of collective spin effects through cross-disciplinary collaborations and a sophisticated array of experimental and theoretical methods. Spin+X research thereby ranges from the fundamental realm of spins in molecules and solids to the development of complex spintronics device structures and magnetic sensors. The youngest crew members, the Spin+X Ph.D. students, will benefit from the Spin+X Young Researcher College that combines structured graduate education with team supervision and a tailored training program.

For its endeavor, Spin+X was provided from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft a budget of as much as 12 Million Euro.
