We are pleased to announce that this year’s biannual conference on the topic of magnetism on the ultrafast timescales is held in Kaiserslautern, following Nijmegen in 2015 and Strasbourg in 2013. The Ultrafast Magnetism Conference (UMC) brings together a large audience of international scientists working on leading edge research. The meeting will take place in the venue of the Gartenschau conference center starting from 9th until 13th of October. Invited speakers and a total amount of over 130 participants will present their latest research results in talks and poster sessions.

The main focus of the conference is devoted to the field of Ultrafast Magnetization Dynamics at large and deals with ultrafast dynamical processes in magnetic materials at femtosecond, picosecond, and attosecond time scales.

The conference is organized by the Spin+X members Wolfgang Hübner, Martin Aeschlimann, Bärbel Rethfeld, and Hans-Christian Schneider. Financial support is given by the collaborative research center “Spin+X: Spin in its collective environment”, the state research center OPTIMAS, and the overhead funds of the European Union. Further information can be found at http://www.umc2017.de.
