CVT-Network at the University of Kaiserslautern
The commercial vehicle industry is one of the most important innovation drivers in Germany. Germany is Europe‘s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer. A concentration of manufacturing plants and suppliers is found especially in the southwest of the country, where Kaiserslautern is located. These enterprises as well as qualification agents and researchers established a communication and cooperation platform, the Commercial Vehicle Cluster. Together with the Daimler Company and the Ministry of Economics of Rhineland-Palatinate, the University of Kaiserslautern is one of the founding members of the cluster.
Together with its surrounding research institutes it is pioneering to leverage commercial vehicle technology at the cutting edge:
The joint goal of the Fraunhofer Innovation Cluster "Digital Commercial Vehicle Technology" (DNT), the Land Technology Center "Center for Commercial Vehicle Technology" (ZNT) and the Graduate School Commercial Vehicle Technology (CVT) of the University of Kaiserslautern and the Commercial Vehicle Cluster Southwest (CVC) is to promote R&D competence and potential for qualification in the commercial vehicle industry.
The CV-Cluster in South-Western Germany represents a communication platform for all those partners involved in the conceptual design, development, production, servicing and operation of commercial vehicles.
The Zentrum für Nutzfahrzeugtechnik (ZNT) at the University of Kaiserslautern has been founded to represent and coordinate all faculties and research institutes doing research in the field of commercial vehicles.
