Protection of employees and students at TUK is accomplished with consistent adherence to our hygiene and safety policy. Where this is ensured, an encounter with suspected and even index cases is usually classified as harmless by the health authorities and no special protective measures are required for the work force.

Case 1 Acute respiratory illness or nonspecific symptoms of illness:

Normal procedure in case of illness (person to leave campus, normal sick call route, sending AU certificate if necessary). Sick person should leave campus, contact doctor himself/herself and clarify further procedure.

Case 2 "Relevant contact" with Covid-19 positive person:
The intensity of the contact is decisive for relevance. For an initial assessment by supervisors/responsible persons, the classification of the RKI offers assistance, see

If the personal encounter lasted at least 15 minutes and compliance with the AHA-L rule was not ensured at all times or was at least questionable, "relevance" is to be assumed. This non-binding assessment by the supervisor is sufficient to require the individual to leave the campus and contact the health department. As long as the person is not ill, he or she should work in the home office if possible.

Case 1 and at the same time case 2 = "suspected case" Person must leave campus, see doctor immediately and report to TUK as suspected case.

Suspected cases (quarantine either already ordered or still being clarified) and index cases:

Supervisors or persons in charge will

- check whether the hygiene and safety concept was adhered to at the TUK in personal dealings with the suspected / index case and whether special protective measures are to be taken for the work team, if necessary.

- if necessary, obtain advice from the company physician and/or the occupational safety specialists.

- provide contact tracing information upon request through Department Z and await feedback from the Health Department regarding further action and quarantine, if necessary. Communication between the TUK and the health department is handled by Department Z.
