RESEARCH AREAS

From the point of view of the cooperation partners, the proposed project is highly attractive from different perspectives. Central perspectives include the cloud-based services relating to health monitoring, localization and road-friendly driving in connection with the concept of the digital twin for the traffic system.

  • RPTU develops algorithms and software interfaces in addition to the substantial research share within the project. The past shows that road building authorities are interested in an extensive information of overall road conditions, but usually cannot afford the cost and time. By participating in the present project, a standard geophysical method for the investigation of road construction will be further developed, in form of a digital twin for the whole traffic system.
  • Geophysik GGD develops methods and algorithms, as an independent service provided in the context of road exploration. This affects e.g. exploration of underground pipes, contaminated sites and landfills or installations and objects such as foundations, basement tanks etc. With the help of the automated evaluation, the procedure would be significantly cheaper and could establish itself as a standard procedure, which would mean a huge market share.
  • CMORE Automotive plans to transfer the know-how for Car2Cloud communication into further series development. Here, the demonstrative solutions are to be further developed into an industrial-grade product so that it can subsequently be offered on the market. In addition, CMORE expects the use of the new Car2Cloud gateway in its own consulting and service projects to significantly expand the depth of testing and to carry out data acquisitions more efficiently.
  • Dresden Elektronik will integrate the results of the project into its Car2I products, e.g. Road side units and thus achieve a significantly stronger market position, as currently no other provider can offer additional services based on C2I and C2C communication. The results from the methods developed here, will significantly improved market position and entry into a new business area.
  • 3D Mapping Solutions has the task to record the selected test routes with measuring vehicles to provide the reference data for the road condition analysis. The basic evaluation includes the processing of all recorded raw data of the measuring system, i.e. the trajectory calculation, time synchronization and the project-related provision of measurement data. The following objects are evaluated in the measurement data, i.e. scanner data and camera data: All lanes, including threading and unthreading lanes as well as standing lanes, in particular with course, height profile, exact lane width, bank angle etc.
