If you are interested in electrical engineering and you enjoy sharing your knowledge with others, then a teaching degree in electrical engineering at vocational schools is just right for you. In addition to a technical education, you will acquire pedagogical and didactical skills during your studies. Furthermore, you will gain knowledge and skills in a mandatory second subject of your choice. Prerequisite for enrollment is a nine-week basic internship in the field of electrical engineering or a corresponding subject-specific education.
Structure
In order to become a teacher, you complete a two-step program, consisting of a bachelor's and a master's degree. In the bachelor's program, you acquire initial technical and educational knowledge. After having completed the first four semesters, you specialize in a specific school type. (LAR+, LAG, LABBS). The Bachelor of Education is your first degree, which does not yet qualify for the teaching profession.
The duration of the subsequent master’s program depends on your chosen school type. The Master of Education (M.Ed.) consists of three semesters in the LAR+ program and four semesters in the LAG and LABBS programs. Upon successful completion of the M.Ed., you will receive the "First State Examination". This is the prerequisite for your entry into the preparatory service, the so called Referendariat, and for obtaining the "Second State Examination".
The teacher study program follows the curricular standards. They guarantee a high standard of academic and didactic education and thus an optimal preparation for your teaching career. During both study programs, a total of four school internships will prepare you for your time as a teacher.
