Spin+X – Spin in its collective environment

The Transregional Collaborative Research Center 173 Spin+X investigates spin properties from various perspectives and by connecting several scientific disciplines. Its research encompasses the whole range of spin research spanning from microscopic properties, to emergent spin phenomena and to the coupling to the macroscopic world. This constitutes a new discipline that we refer to as Advanced Spin Engineering, which seeks to create new functionalities based on spin physics. Spin+X builds on an outstanding research infrastructure in physics and chemistry at TUK and JGU, as well as in engineering at TUK, which are at the forefront of spin-related science and technology.

Joint School on Spin Physics 2021

The "Joint School on Spin Physics 2021" in Apolda is a conference organized in collaboration by and for the international PhD students of the TRR 173 - Spin+X and the TRR 227 - Ultrafast Spin Dynamics.

By covering a broad range of spin-related phenonema from slow to ultra-fast timescales and weakly to strongly correlated systems, the joint school will provide examples from state of the art theory and experiments in invited and student talks as well as technical tutorials together with discussion meetings and poster sessions. This will encourage collaborations among the students also between TRRs by the "Joint School on Spin Physics" which will result in a larger network of possibilities for investigating spin-related phenomena.

The JSSP will take place at the Hotel am Schloß Apolda in Thuringia (Thüringen), Germany from October 25th to 28th, 2021.
