To Research Profile

Collaborations and Networks

RPTU is closely networking with regional, national and international research partners from science and industry, which is reflected in particular in the large number of coordinated programs

Several renowned  research institutes are located on and near the campus, all are closely cooperating with RPTU, especially in applied research. All partners are connected in the  Science and Innovation Alliance Kaiserslautern e.V. (SIAK)network. In addition to the transfer offers of RPTU, SIAK provides special platforms  for cooperations with the regional economy and society.

The University has worldwide research collaborations, among them many with top institutions. Many international collaborations take place in the framework of EU-funded projects or  international graduate programs funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). Moreover, RPTU has strong ties with the Universities of Liège, Luxembourg, Lorraine (with locations in Nancy and Metz), Saarland, Trier and HTW Saar within the framework of the University of the Greater Region (UniGR)and is also involved in the pillar science of the Trinational Metropolitan Region Upper Rhine (TMO).

Where research takes place

Our research takes place in the departments and in part of the central facilities. They are the foundation of our research activities and are interconnected in numerous interdisciplinary research clusters and centers.

University of the Greater Region

Together with the universities of Lorraine (Metz and Nancy), Liège, Luxembourg, Saarland and Trier, and the HTW Saar the RPTU is part of the University Network of the Greater Region (UniGR) and thus provides a network in research. The seven UniGR universities cover a wide range of disciplines and offer their researchers and doctoral students numerous opportunities to work across borders.

Working conditions of researchers

The Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R) is based on the 40 principles of the Charter & Code and supports research institutions in improving and harmonising the working conditions of researchers within the European Research Area. The European Commission recognises with the 'HR Excellence in Research Award' the institutions which make progress in aligning their human resources policies to the principles of the Charter & Code, based on a customised action plan/HR strategy. RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau received the 'HR Excellence in Research Award' in March 2023 and was recognised as an attractive employer for researchers. One part of this strategy is our promotion of young scientists, which offers a tailored program for young scientists.
