From 19th to 31st March 2019, students of Civil Engineering of the Rheinland-Pfälzische Technische Universität Kaiserslautern-Landau together with students of Geography from Freie Universitaet Berlin visited the northern part of Namibia. This was part of the joint student project on „Flood Risk Management in developing countries: the case of Namibia – Applying the WWF Flood Green Guide and developing an E-Learning component”. The results of the student project are summarized in a report, which can be downloaded here. From 01.10. to 14.10.2013, the Department Hydraulic Engineering and Water Management and the Institute for Construction Material Technology in collaboration with the University of Namibia, Ongwediva Engineering Campus (UNAM), organized a student excursion to Namibia for a total of 10 students of the diploma program of civil engineering. It was the conclusion of the one-semester course "Project Work Hydraulic Engineering", which this time dealt with the topic of "Water storage with local construction materials in Namibia". The stay has been generously supported by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). In addition to the academic exchange and the work on different subprojects within the student group, the participants also got an insight into the Namibian culture and an impression of the impressive landscape.
